Big Lake Community Lakes Association
Lake preservation is vital for our community, as it protects the water quality and the habitat, and the recreational opportunities that we all enjoy and depend on.
Big Lake Community Lakes Association is a non-profit association dedicated to preserving the quality of the lakes in our small lake community since 1971. Our members are passionate about protecting our lakes, to keep them clean and healthy for current and future generations. Our members, sponsors, and donors make a difference. We provide information about updates and newsletters to our members, and we offer the opportunity to become a member, sponsor, or donor to support our cause. Join us in our mission to keep our community lakes thriving.
Q. How is the funding used?
A. Funding is used for lake management of water quality and weed control, including Lake Treatments cost share with city for AIS, Survey monitoring and Watercraft inspection cost share with the city for Aquatic Invasive Species. Samples are collected to analyze and monitor data on the physical, chemical, and biological conditions of the lake, and identifies any trends and issues that need attention. Funding is also used for Walleye Stocking, BLCLA Annual Meeting, Website administration, Chamber of Commerce dues, Community Event Registration fees, and other necessary operating expenses of the association. The association also needs to keep AIS fund reserves on hand for rapid response to new aquatic invasive species found on either Big Lake or Lake Mitchell.
